SNACK RECIPES:
Spiced Nuts


1-large egg white
¼-cup sugar
1-tsp salt
½-tsp chilli powder
¼-tsp ground allspice
½-tsp ground cumin
1 ¾-tsp cayenne pepper
2 ½-cups assorted nuts (pecan halves, cashews, walnuts, almonds, etc)


Heat oven to 300*
Beat egg white until soft and foamy
Combine remaining ingredients except nuts and whisk into egg white
Add nuts and stir until well coated
Spread mixture in a single layer on an ungreased baking sheet
Bake for 15 minutes
Using a metal spatula, toss, stir, and separate nuts
Reduce heat to 250*
Return to oven until browned, about 10 minutes
Remove, toss and stir again
Place baking sheet on wire rack to cool
Break apart any nuts that are stuck together
Store in an airtight container for up to 2 weeks (as if it would ever last !)

Makes 2 1/2-cups
