MAIN DISH RECIPE:
Sas's Houston Ribs

1 1/2-cups water
1/4-cup vinegar
2-cloves garlic, minced
1-bay leaf
Salt and pepper
1-tsp pickling spice
1-standard size bottle of your favourite barbeque sauce


Place ribs in a shallow pan and brown (really brown) in 450-500* oven for 20 minutes
Remove from oven and put ribs in a deeper pan
Mix together water, vinegar, garlic, bay leaf, salt and pepper
Pour over ribs
Cover pan and return to a 350* oven for 2-2 1/2-hours or until tender
Mix 1-tsp pickling spice to your favourite BBQ sauce
Heat and pour over ribs or serve as a dipping sauce

Sweet Ribs
To 1/2-bottle of BBQ sauce, add 1/2-cup brown sugar and 2-tbsp honey; mix
Last 45 minutes of cooking above ribs, pour over ribs and continue cooking
