2003
This
year we ventured over to Toronto to go to the
10th
Anniversary Krinos Taste of
the Danforth. It's a street festival in Greektown
celebrating Greek cuisine and culture. The festival
organizers have estimated
over 1.2 million people came to the event over the three
days it was held. This year the festival was partnering
with Greece to highlight the upcoming 2004 Athens
Olympics. Hundreds of sidewalk and roadside stalls offered a range of food
for the main course from keftedes to souvlaki, and for
dessert, an assortment of Greek pastries, including baklava, kataifi and loukoumades.
Polish perogies, East Indian samosas, and Japanese sushi were also
available.
With a beer and wine garden, and the local pubs'
sidewalk tables serving up brew, there were many places to
just sit and relax and take in all the festivities. The festival
hosted a fashion show and three live music stages
featuring various artists such as Melanie Doane and
traditional Greek folk music
