CANNING
RECIPE: Applesauce
8-tart apples
Sugar
½”-cinnamon stick
2-cloves
2-tbsp butter
A few gratings of nutmeg
Peel, core and cut the apples into large chunks
Put them into a pan and add a very small amount of water, about 2-tbsp of sugar, the cinnamon and cloves
Cover and cook slowly until tender, about 15 minutes
Remove the cinnamon stick and cloves
Stir in the butter
Add more sugar to taste
Serves 4
To can this recipe:
Put hot applesauce into hot sterilized jars
Seal
Process for 20 minutes in a hot water bath
