1 3/4-cup all purpose flour
1-tbsp baking powder
2-tbsp sugar
3/4-tsp salt
1/4-cup shortening
1-cup raisins
2-eggs beaten
1/2-cup milk or cream

Sift flour, baking powder, sugar & salt in large bowl
Cut in shortening until mix looks like coarse oatmeal
Add raisins
Reserve 1 tbsp of beaten egg, mix rest with milk
Make a well in dry ingredients
Add milk mix
Stir quickly with fork.
Place dough on lightly floured surface
Knead gently 8-10 times
Cut dough in half
Form into 2 balls
Pat or gently roll each ball out to 1/2 '' thick round
Transfer both to a greased cookie sheet
Brush with remaining egg
Score into wedge shape pieces
Bake 12-15 min @ 450*   
You can sprinkle top with fine sugar while it's still hot from the oven
